Living Room Cabinetry for a Cozy Family Home

Living room cabinetry is the perfect way to elevate any space, and this project is proof!

Custom living room cabinetry to create a cozy seating area with a fireplace and a wall that has windows to let in a lot of light

We were lucky enough to inherit a beautiful canvas that already featured high ceilings, plentiful windows, and a grand stone fireplace. However, the homeowners were looking to add a bit more character and coziness to the expansive space. Enter, custom living room cabinetry.

Custom cabinetry that is white and is used as an entertainment center with a leather Ottoman and couch.

This cabinetry plays a pivotal role in defining different areas within the large space. To the right of the fireplace is a built-in bookcase that houses a fully integrated TV station, establishing a cozy gathering area perfect for movie nights. To maintain symmetry, a similar built-in bookcase flanks the left side of the fireplace as well, offering plenty of display space for family photos and decorative items.

A custom stone fireplace that is built-in to the custom cabinets that are surrounding it.

Next, we concealed the exposed electrical wiring by wrapping a section of the stone chimney with wood battens. This solution not only hid the wires, but also provided a much needed link between the fireplace and new living room cabinetry. With the wood battens, the fireplace and bookshelves look like one seamless feature rather than two separate entities.

Tall cathedral ceilings and a unique light fixture that has a classic style and candle like lighting suspended from the ceiling.

Finally, to really drive home that feeling of warmth and coziness the homeowners were seeking, we incorporated wood beams along the ceiling and paneled trim at just the right height. These elements draw the eye upward, emphasizing the room’s high ceilings while simultaneously making the space feel more intimate and inviting.

Custom fireplace that is constructed using stones and stones that are shaped like bricks. As well as custom cabinetry that flanks the fireplace.

Overall, the living room cabinetry and thoughtful design details infused this space with character and a warmth that invites the family to slow down, gather, and connect with one another. At the beginning of the project, it was difficult to imagine how we could improve on what was already a great space. But now, we can’t imagine it without its living room cabinetry.
